How do I taste the wines?

    How many wines can I try during my visit?

    The app allows you to try up to six samples a day from any of our dispenser machines.

      Can I check out with the app?

      Yup, you sure can! 

      How many wines do you have available to taste?

      Currently we have about 30 machines with 2 bottles in each, for a total of nearly 60 bottles to sample from. 
       

      What is the general price range of the wines you carry?

      We strive to give approachable wines at a great value, our stock ranges from $9-$290 a bottle, with the bulk being in the $15-30 range.
       

      I tried an amazing wine the last time I visited, but I don't remember what it was!

      Our app saves every wine that you taste/rate. In order to navigate to the list of wines you've tried, open the side bar on your app and click "Profile", then "Wines Tasted/Rated".  Alternatively, if you paid with a card we can look up your purchase history by your name.
       

      I tried a wine but forgot to rate and review it, is there a way to review a wine after you're done tasting?

      If you've already tried a wine but missed giving it a review, simply navigate to the wine's profile either through the search in the sidebar or through the "Wines Tasted/Rated" page under your profile, click "Reviews" and then the edit icon in the top right corner. You'll be prompted to add your own star rating as well as a supplemental review.

        Do you ever change the wines that you carry?

        We're always adding new wines and changing around our stock, which is why downloading the app and using it is so important! Your reviews help us to see which wines our customers love, and which wines we should consider moving out of stock to make room for something new.
         

        Do you only sell wine?

        We also have a selection of liquor and champagne.  These are unfortunately not available to try in our machines (though we do keep a small selections of liquor behind the counter that you can taste). We also often have our distributors come in to the store for special tasting events that include liquor and sparkling wine, so be sure to join our email list to know when those are happening!

        What are your hours?

        Monday - Wednesday: 11am-10pm 
        Thursday - Saturday: 11am-11pm
        Sunday: 12pm-9pm

         

        Do you have kosher wines?

        We're told we have the best selection of kosher wines (a red, a white & a rose') in the East Village and work closely with the kosher wine distributors, so we can special order anything you need and have it in store, typically within 24-48 hours.

        Are your wines organic?

        We carry a number of certified organic as well as biodynamic wines. Just look out for the green dot on the price cube or ask any Taste employee to direct you to our selection when you visit the store.  You can also check the "Details" link for each wine in the app.  If a wine is organic (or Vegan, or kosher...or anything of note) we'll indicate it there.

        What does biodynamic mean?

        As a practical method of farming, biodynamics embodies the ideal of ever-increasing ecological self-sufficiency. This type of viticulture views the farm as a cohesive, interconnected living system.

        Do you have wifi?

        We offer free wifi to our customers to make downloading the app an easier process. Just ask any Taste employee for the name and password.

        What if my phone is dead?

        We have charging stations as well as lightning cables for iPhones so you can charge your battery while enjoying tasting our wine!

        Do you carry half bottles?

        We have a modest selection of 375ml bottles as well as cans and even a 500ml tetrapak of Cabernet from California.  We also have some cool "flask" like bottles from local Kings County Distillery.

        Do you offer a discount on cases?

        We offer a 10% discount on every case of wine.  Please just make sure to ask so that we provide the discount.

        Can I get that cold?

        We keep a selection of our whites, rosés and sparkling wines chilled in a fridge so you can take that bottle home and enjoy it straight away. Just ask a Taste employee and they'll check to see if we have a cold bottle available for you.

        You don't carry my favorite wine!

        If you're looking for a wine but don't see it in our store, just ask us! We can always order you what you need.

        I love the tasting glasses, are they for sale?

        Absolutely!  You can buy a stemless glass for $3, the glasses with stems are $9 each. 

        EVENTS at Taste...

        Do you offer wine classes?

        We sure do!  We built an intimate little wine education room in the back room of our store since we love learning & tasting wines as much as our customers do.  Join our email list to get updates on classes offered!

        I bought tickets to an event at Taste Wine Co but can't make it.  Can I get a refund?

        If you let us know at least 48 hours in advance, we can offer you a credit for a future class or even for in store purchases. Unfortunately, we commit to our instructors and we are unable to issue any credit if you make changes less than 48 hours before the class. If you know someone else who wants your ticket you are certainly free to have that person come in your place, but please let us know ahead of time to avoid any confusion or embarrassment.

        I booked a private wine education event but my friends are so flaky and it doesn't look like it is going to happen.  What happens now?

        For group events, a minimum of 7 days notice is required to receive a credit in the form of a coupon for a future class/event.  

        Occasionally we are forced to reschedule an event.   When this happens, we will make our best effort to reach you via email or phone at the information you provide when you purchase your ticket.  You will be offered your choice of either a full refund or a ticket to a future event.
